The Hammond Civic Center has been the venue for so many musical acts, performances, special events, professional wrestling and of course, amateur and professional boxing. Since 2014, it has been the home of the Northwest Indiana / Hammond 911 SLUGFEST Police and Fire Charity Boxing Event.
Jack needs no introduction in Northwest Indiana or at the Hammond Civic Center. He had a great amateur and professional boxing career, with several fights in the Hammond Civic Center. He also served the Hammond Community for years as a Hammond Firefighter, rising through the ranks.
Karen also has had a long career in service, as a nurse in Northwest Indiana. Her motivation and drive to fundraise for children with life threatening medical conditions combined with her production skills has made this show one of the greatest charity events in the region.
Together, these two produce a great boxing event, pairing Northwest Indiana Police Officer and Firefighters against each other for an action-packed night.
Here are some of the local Professional Fighters supporting the 911 SLUGFEST.
Fifteen action-packed bouts.
The Hammond Civic Center seats about 4500 people and this show has an awesome turn-out.

Jack and Karen finally get a chance to enjoy the show, after months of hard work.
Jack recruits participants, trains fighters and coordinates the matching. Karen coordinates the sponsors and volunteers. Both hammer away at ticket sales. Kurt runs the logistics from the Indianapolis Office. Add in the best volunteers around and you get a great show.
